Rev. Doris Ann Crawley

Rev. Dr. Crawley was born April 8, 1945, in Richmond, Virginia to the Late Oscar Howard Sr. and Susie B. Howard.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Curtis L. Taylor, brother, Oscar Howard, Jr., sons, Kenneth and Guy Russell Crawley.

She was the second child of three, raised and educated in James City County. She graduated from Bruton Heights High School in 1963, furthering her education at Virginia Union University’s The Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology, and completing her Doctorate in Divinity from Virginia Triumphant College & Seminary.

Rev. Dr. Crawley retired from James City County School System after 32 years

Rev. Dr. Crawley accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, joining New Zion Baptist Church in Williamsburg; later joining Mt. Nebo Baptist Church (MNBC) where she served faithfully until her death. She was a Pastor and co-founder of Revelation and Divine (R & D) Ministries with her husband, Pastor Russell Crawley. A few of the ministries she served diligently include Associate Minister and Trustee at MNBC, Past President of the Star of East Women’s Division, former First Lady of Second Elam Baptist Church, highly active throughout her ministries in the New Kent and surrounding communities.

She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted husband, Pastor (Emeritus) Russell L. Crawley, children, Vincent Taylor (La’Ura), Elder Ramona Taylor, Sharon Smith, Lynette Barnes, Patricia Jones, Cornell Crawley (Cresendo), Nathan Crawley; sister Delores “Puddin” Howard, brother, Rev. Dr. Morris Randall (Helen), 4 sisters-in-love, 21 grandchildren, 3 godchildren, Sharina Mason, Rev. Dr. Gail Becoat, and Minister Clarence Jones, Jr. A host of great-grandchildren, family, and friends.

A Walk-through visitation will be held Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 4pm-8pm at Nelsen Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Rev. Dr. Doris Crawley will be held Monday, January 11, 2021 at Noon at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church-Barhamsville. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the funeral service will be limited to family only.
