Dorothy Grebos was an accomplished musician who graduated Carnegie Mellon University with a Degree in Piano Performance and Music Education. Dot had numerous musical credits spanning 40 years including performances at the University of Virginia, with the Penn State Percussion Ensemble and in Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association programs. Dot will be fondly remembered by generations of piano students in Charlottesville Virginia and State College Pennsylvania.
After retiring from a career in music, Dot embarked on a second career as a full time artist. She created vibrant abstract paintings that are held in many private and corporate collections. Influenced by her musical background, her paintings are exuberant expressions of rhythm, color and harmony. Dot’s work was exhibited widely throughout Virginia and has been recognized with numerous awards. She worked and exhibited for several years at the New Town Gallery of Art.
Art and music were constants in Dot’s life as were her dear friends. She loved to play cards and enjoy a glass of chardonnay with her many close friends. Dot enjoyed travelling, watching birds, and seeking out happy hours with her beloved husband John David Grebos who preceded her in death.
Dorothy is survived by a sister Jean Reavel; her son, Patrick Crowley; stepson Timothy Grebos; stepdaughter Kathryn Grebos Larson and grandchildren, Hannah Grebos, Caroline Grebos and Connor Larson.
