

John grew up on Long Island, enlisted in the Navy in 1964, attended the University of Washington, and was commissioned in 1970. He served on the USS John Adams SSBN 620 and attended Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, earning an MS in Physics. He retired from the Navy in 1984 but continued to serve the submarine community as a contractor dealing with submarine weapons systems.
In retirement, John enjoyed golf, travel, bridge and hiking with Karen and their dog. Gifted with numbers and a desire to help people in the community, John enjoyed serving as a tax preparer and filer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. He was devoted to his wife Karen, his children and grandchildren. He was a true gentleman who loved this country. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Karen, his son John, daughter Brenda, two beautiful granddaughters Hannah and Ellie, and four brothers Peter, Richard, Donald, and Warren. He was predeceased by his parents John and Gertrude and his sister Linda.
A memorial service will be held at Bruton Parish Church on Monday, July 9 at 11am. John wanted friends to join his family for an informal reception and a last drink on him at the Colonial Heritage Club House, Kings and Queens room from 2 to 4 also on Monday, July 9.
