Elaine Bortnek Auerbach, 91, of Gloucester, Virginia, was born on November 2, 1934, in New Jersey, and passed away on January 8, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Auerbach; her brother, Eugene Bortnek; and great-grandson, Gavin.
She graduated from high school before starting her work as a clerk typist with the U.S. Army. Elaine enjoyed reading, crocheting afghan’s, and was a member of the Catholic Church. She loved her family, animals, and going out to dinner.
Elaine is survived by her son, Mark (Jackie); daughter, Debbie (Jim); grandchildren, Mark Jr., Wayne, Jessica, Jennifer, Jackie, and Jimmy; and great-grandchildren, Jordan, Paxton, Coen, McKenna, Norah, Autumn, Richard, Kyle, Christian, and James David.
A private viewing will be held for the family. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery with her beloved husband, Paul at a later date.
