Elwood A. “Woody” Woolwine, Jr., 70, of Williamsburg, passed away on June 24, 2018. Born and raised in Abingdon, Virginia, and son of the late Elwood A. Woolwine and Doris Marie Woolwine. Woody was on golf scholarship at the University of Kentucky and Western Kentucky University. After moving to Williamsburg, Woody served as Regional manager and Independent Agent for 44 years with State Farm Insurance.
In his leisure time, Woody enjoyed fishing, boating, and was an accomplished golfer that won many amateur events around the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Woody was a wonderful father, husband, brother and friend. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Linda Gabbard Woolwine; two sons, Elwood “Woods” Woolwine, III and his wife Shannon, and their son Elwood (EA) Woolwine, IV from Williamsburg, VA; William Scott Woolwine and his wife Heather, daughters, Emma Grace, Mallory, Abby and Zac Robinson, all from Nicholasville, KY; one daughter Amanda Leigh Nighbert and her husband Hunter, son Tyler, and daughter Molly Hunter; a sister Cindy Iracane and her husband Phil from Richmond, all of whom were inspired by the strength he showed day in and day out.
A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, June 28th at 1:00pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. A reception celebrating Woody’s life will follow at Nelsen’s Funeral Home.
