Everett confessed Christ as his personal savior in his youth, and remained a faithful servant until his demise.
Everett was educated in the York County and James City County school systems. He retired after several jobs, Creative Cabinet Works being the last.
A creative soul, Everett loved drawing, painting, home improvement, and traveling. He was always willing to share the Word of God with whomever he met.
He will be sorely missed by his first love, his children and grandchildren. We know our loss is Heaven’s gain.
Everett leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife of 37 years, Sherlene Hawkins; his sons, Everett Jr., Brandon (Alina), and Carlos (Lisa); his daughter, Sherett (Tyiquan); sisters, Hilda Ashby, Karen Hawkins, and Wanda Hawkins; brothers, Kenneth Hawkins and Alex Hawkins; his sidekick and riding partner, Richard “Richie” Hawkins, as well as eight other grandchildren. He will also be missed by a special devoted aunt and caregiver, Joyce Evans; aunts, Elaine Henry, Iris Cowles, Aquilla Jones, Carolyn Bailey, Evangeline Hawkins, and Olivia Noel; his uncle, Levi Hawkins; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and caring friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 1 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg.
