The family of Genevieve Taylor, who graced this earth for 98 years, are celebrating her life and times. As every living being needs rest, on October 21, 2014, Genevieve entered into her eternal rest. She was born September 6, 1916 in Scranton, PA to John and Virginia Williams and spent her early years in Albany, NY. Genevieve graduated from Albany High School and attended Oneonta (NY) Normal School...now Oneonta State College. It was there that she met the love of her life, Robert R. Taylor to whom she was married over 60 years.
She retired from Binghamton Public Library Association, and continued to be active with them as an Alumnae member until her move to Williamsburg to be nearer to her son, Robert and daughter in law, Marilyn. Ever the active, involved person, she was a past Matron of The Eastern Star, a member of The Gadabout Club, R.S.V.P, a Pink Lady volunteer at Binghamton General Hospital, a member of Tabernacle Methodist Church and a consummate reader and news enthusiast. Her latter years at The Chambrel, Williamsburg were filled with the love and companionship of the many new friends she made there as well as others in the surrounding area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister, husband, Robert, Sr. and their son, David. Genevieve or Gen, as she was called by her friends, is survived by her son, Robert (Marilyn) of Williamsburg, grandson, John A. Taylor (Matilde) of Richmond and great grandchildren, Alexa, Omar and Elena Moros Taylor and other well-loved relatives and friends.
Services celebrating her life will be held on November 29, 2014, 11 AM at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, 215 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Childrens’ Discovery
Center, 60 Morgan Road, Binghamton, NY 13903.
