Gloria Sheppard Sheppard Beane

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, December 12 at Bruton Parish Episcopal Church for Gloria Sheppard Beane, who died on December 6 in Williamsburg, VA. A native of King and Queen County, VA, she had lived in the Williamsburg area since 1957.

Mrs. Beane was valedictorian of her high school class, graduated from what is now Longwood University and taught elementary school students for eight years. She was the daughter of the late Roland Smith Sheppard and Sarah Dillard Sheppard of Walkerton, VA.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Reginald B. Beane; one daughter, Catherine B. Jett of Fredericksburg; a granddaughter, Sara Courtney Jett and husband, David Jett of Gainesville; one great-granddaughter, Cecily Jett; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Beane was a member of Bruton Parish Church; a former member of the Williamsburg Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, where she held offices and chairman’s positions; APVA; past president and life member of the Queens Lake Garden Club; and former member of the Women’s Club of Williamsburg.

Following the service, family members will greet relatives and friends at a reception in the Jamestown/Yorktown Rooms at Williamsburg Landing, 5700 Williamsburg Landing Dr.
