Gregory Powell Johnson

Gregory Powell Johnson, 53, of Williamsburg VA, suddenly passed away on December 1st, 2020. Greg was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cathy Callis; and father, Kenneth Johnson. Greg is survived by his daughter, Cecilia; mother, Joan; brother, Steve; step-children Kyle and Nicole; aunts, uncles, many cousins, nieces and nephews

Greg grew up and worked at the Williamsburg Pottery with his grandfather Jimmy, grandmother Gloria, mother, father, and brother. After attending Walsingham Academy in 1985, Greg attended VCU and shortly after discovered his passion for food and fine cuisine and enrolled in the Culinary Institute of Virginia to become an Executive chef for multiple restaurants in the Williamsburg area.

Greg was an avid hiker and outdoorsman with aspirations of completing the Appalachian Trail this upcoming year. Greg enjoyed traveling to many destinations with his late wife and mother including visits to Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Mexico and many more. Greg loved watching Atlanta Braves games and taking his cherished dogs (Iris and Violet) on long walks on the trials in Quarter Path and York River State Park.
