
She was born in Camden, New Jersey, January 3, 1923, and was the only child of Samuel Patrick Riggins and Minnie Rickenbach Riggins. Her husband of 62 years, Ralph Dunham Bradway, preceded her in death in 2005.
She is survived by two children, Patricia Bradway Valentine and her husband, Douglas, of Charlottesville, VA, and Donald Ralph Bradway and his wife, Shirley, of Virginia Beach, VA. Also surviving are grandchildren, Anne Valentine Higgins and her husband Trace, of Chesterfield, Jonathan Bradway and his wife Alison, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Andrew Bradway and his wife Hayley, of Baltimore, Maryland; and Great-grandchildren, Riley Higgins, Regan Higgins, Anna Bradway, Benjamin Bradway, Reed Bradway, William Bradway, and Tilley Bradway.
Jane attended schools in southern New Jersey and graduated from Collingswood High School. She was a 1943 graduate of Glassboro State Teacher’s College (now Rowan College). She became a historian for the Borough of Collingswood and presented school programs on local history for many years. She was Chairman of the Collingswood Nursing Service and Regent of Ye Olde Newton Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as both junior and senior state presidents of New Jersey Society, Children of the American Revolution, and was an active member of Colonial Dames. She was president of Chapter W, P.E.O. Sisterhood, in Haddonfield, New Jersey and a leader for Sunday School and women’s activities, and accompanist for youth choirs at Collingswood (NJ) Presbyterian Church.
After moving to Virginia in 1968, Jane was active in P.E.O. Chapters AG, BA, and BJ in Newport News and Williamsburg. She served as state president of Virginia State Chapter, P.E.O., in 1976-77. She was a Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA) at Hidenwood Presbyterian Church, Newport News. At the time of her death, she was a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church.
Interment will be private. Nelsen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
