Jane Elizabeth Portwood

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Boden Portwood who passed in July of 2018.

Jane was born and grew up in Grand Island, NE to parents Alexander and Olive Larson. She attended Colorado Women’s College where she earned her Baccalaureate degree.

Jane returned to Grand Island and taught school for several years until her marriage to Boden.

After marriage, they purchased a home in York, NE, later moving to Lincoln, Kansas City, Houston, and finally ending up here in Williamsburg to retire in 1973.

Jane enjoyed living in her Kingsmill neighborhood on the pond for 50 years, watching the wildlife come and go. She loved ballet and the arts, and was a member of DAR.

She is survived by her daughters, Miriam Gilchrist (Guy) and Annie Pankonin; grandchildren, Jacquelyn Epstein and Jessica Silversprings (Brandon); and great-grandchildren, Owen and Kinley Silversprings.

A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at a later date.
