Jason Adam Marotta, 40, of Richmond, died on May 25, 2013. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Marotta.
Jason will be remembered as a friend to all, and as a father to his first loves in life, his beloved children, Macy and Vincent. Jason was charming, compassionate, well-mannered, and well-liked. He was a person who enjoyed the good things in life, especially games with friends and time on his Ducati riding the open road. He was a great natural athlete, always ready to join in yard sports like Frisbee and ping pong with his friends. Jason took his talent for cooking to the heights, becoming a chef, with many enjoying the fruits of his labor.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Leigh H. Marotta; his two children, Macy and Vincent Marotta; his father, Robert Marotta; his siblings, Marc Marotta and his wife, Kari; and Peter Marotta and his wife, Jordan; and a large extended family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 30 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jason’s memory to The Healing Place, 700 Dinwiddie Ave, Richmond, VA 23224. Online condolences may be expressed at www.nelsencares.com.
Jason will be forever remembered by his family, speaking his favorite lyric by Macy Gray, “All I ever wanted was the peace, and the love and the harmony, Just to be and love and shine; now I am finally free. Don't know where I'm headed, hope I see you someday soon; So long everybody, I have gone beyond the moon.”
