

On Monday, January 2, 2023, Jo Ann Burnett Butler, 90, passed away peacefully of natural causes. Jo Ann was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by all. She is survived by her two sons, Daniel Leslie “Les” Butler, Jr. (Lora), of Atlanta, GA, and Lance Burnett Butler (Audrey) of Lexington, KY; her three grandchildren, Chelsea Nicole Butler Isaac (Johnny), Nicholas Leslie Butler (Lohr), and Zachary Jordan Butler (Maria); two great-grandsons, Abram Randall Isaac and Ellis Cooper Isaac; and her sister, Marlyn Burnett Garner.
Jo Ann was born on August 31, 1932, in Sequatchie, TN to Charles Horace and Ethyl Lusk Burnett. She attended the University of Tennessee from 1951 to 1955, earning a bachelor’s degree in Education. Post-graduation she became a military wife traveling throughout the United States, proudly supporting her husband and children until retirement to Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, VA which she ultimately called home.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Dan Butler; her parents, Charles Horace and Ethyl Lusk Burnett; and her brother, Horace Burnett.
