
John Thomas Boyd, 92, of Williamsburg, VA, died on September 12, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Nancy. He was born in Chicago, IL on August 2, 1921. He was raised on Chicago’s Southside where he graduated from Parker High School and The University of Chicago, where he was a member of the KAPPA SIGMA Fraternity. He then proudly served in the United States Army for 39 months during World War II.
John began his business career at Marshall Field and later joined a staffing company. In 1965, he founded Right Temporary Service Inc., where he served as Chairman for 35 years.
In 2000, he sold Right Temporary Inc., and moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. There he became an active member of the church serving as an Elder, as well as President of the Corporation at Church by the Sea. He was a member of the Ft. Lauderdale Yacht Club, and a Patron of the President’s Associates of Nova Southeastern University. In addition to his love of family and business, his optimism and integrity were inspirations to all who knew him.
In 2007, John and his wife, Nancy, moved to Williamsburg, VA. He served as a mentor at the Rawlsbyrd Elementary School. He was also a member of The Williamsburg Community Chapel. One of his favorite activities was the bible study group at Williamsburg Landing where he collaborated with Pastor William Warrick. Under Pastor Warrick’s leadership, he found the greatest peace of mind.
He is survived by his three daughters, Deborah Schorle (Randy), Janet Toussaint (Scott), and Nancy Barth (Jim); seven grandchildren, John Schorle (Tracy), Todd Schorle (Bronwen), Kristin Inskeep, Jill Burks (Tom), Andrew Toussaint, Jessica Barth and Emily Barth; six great-grandchildren, Connor, Carter and Cooper Inskeep, Annmarie Schorle, Drew Burks and Claire Schorle.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 15 at 2:00 pm at Williamsburg Community Chapel in the Student Ministry, 3899 John Tyler Hwy, Williamsburg, VA, with a reception immediately following the service.
