
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Seymour, his parents, John L. and Alice Seymour, and his brother, James.
He is survived by his sister, Susie Goodyear; his sister-in-law, Joyce Flowers; four children, Marla Seymour, John Craig (Sherri) Seymour, William Brent (Marlin) Seymour, and Marcia (Jack) Horst; seven grandchildren, Duncan Horst, Stephanie Seymour, Dr. Kyle (Jon) Reynolds, Drew (Gary) Adkins, Jacqueline (Justin) Johnson, Tanner Horst, and William (Emma) Seymour; and, eight great-grandchildren.
John was a native of central Ohio. He graduated from Groveport High School and continued his education with an undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and a graduate degree from the University of Ohio. His career in education and skills training included twelve years in the public education system as a teacher, Principal, counselor, and President of the Fairfield County, Ohio Teachers Association. His public education activity was followed by more than thirty years of government employment with the US Forest Service Job Corps program achieving Center and Headquarters Directorships.
As John pursued his career, he and his family were residents of multiple states including Ohio, Colorado, California, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia. John retired from the US Civil Service and moved to Lake of The Woods, Virginia where he was an active member of the Lake of the Woods Church. He was also a member of the local square dancing club, an avid bridge player, and greatly enjoyed fishing.
