John Wesley Smith

John Wesley Smith, 73, a native of Charles City, died Thursday, July 4, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara R. Smith and brothers, Albert Smith, III (Shelia), of Radford, VA and James Nelson Smith (Patti), of Charles City, VA. John was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Lemuel Smith, Jr. and Mary Ruffin Smith; daughter, Katherine K. Smith; and sisters, Ann Elizabeth Bartee and Susan Ruffin Smith. John was a member of the Air National Guard and an avid hunter and fisherman. For 12 years he was the manager of the Virginia Ag Expo, which is the largest agriculture field day in the state of Virginia and the owner/broker of Smith Land and Timber. Visitation will be on Monday, July 8th from 10am – 11am at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg where the memorial service will immediately follow.
