

Junius Isaac Pridgen, 82, died Wednesday, August 7, 2024, in Williamsburg, VA. Born on November 16, 1941, he was the first child of Isaac Ernest Pridgen and Gertrude Craddock Pridgen. Nicky, as he was known by family and friends, was preceded in death by his parents and by two sisters, Carol Lynn Pridgen and Ellen Frances Pridgen. He is survived by two sisters and their husbands, Mary and Jan Blankenship of Crewe and Janet and Edward Hopkins of Williamsburg; and by two nephews and their wives, Isaac Hopkins and Lina Schneider of Scottsville, and Jeremy and Robin Hopkins of Waynesboro.
Nicky was valedictorian of the Crewe High School class of 1960 and graduated at the top of his University of Virginia class in 1964 with a degree in electrical engineering. After continuing his studies at UVA and Georgia Tech, Nicky graduated with his master’s in 1971. His entire career was spent at Lockheed Martin Corporation and its predecessor companies, where he worked on aerospace and defense contracting projects. After he retired in 2011, Nicky returned to the family farm in Nottoway County and lived there until 2021, when he moved to Williamsburg to be near his sister, Janet.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 18 at 3:30 p.m. at Commonwealth Senior Living, 236 Commons Way, Williamsburg, where Nicky resided for the last three years and where he made many friends. On Monday, August 19 at 2:00 p.m., a second memorial service will be held back home in Nottoway County at Ward’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 7818 Namozine Road, Crewe, VA. Interment of his ashes in the Ward’s Chapel cemetery will be private.
