Kathryn Haritos Forrest

Kathy was born March 30, 1934. She was the daughter of Greek immigrants George and Olga (Procopi) Haritos. Kathy is survived by her husband of 58 yrs. John G. Forrest Jr.; her children, Kristin (Gary) Godfrey of Austin, TX, and Matthew (Melissa) Forrest of Fairfax, VA; two grandsons, Mitchell Forrest and Maarten Forrest; a sister, Helen (Duncan) McRae, of Greenville, SC; and a sister-in-law, Ann (Jim) Hamilton, of Bluffton, SC; nieces, nephews and many cousins. She was predeceased by her parents. Kathy earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Grove City College. She taught high school, middle school and later served as a substitute teacher. Kathy maintained the home front while John was in Vietnam. Kathy was a volunteer docent at the Smithsonian Institute. She worked as a part time front desk receptionist for Planning Research Corporation (PRC) and maintained the Security Procedures Manual. This part time job allowed her to be home when her children came home from school. Kathy earned a Master’s degree in Human Resources Development and Administration from George Washington University. Since retiring with her husband to Williamsburg, Kathy enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, attending service at Williamsburg Community Chapel, travel with her husband, visiting friends/relatives, Precept, Book Club, Vintage Ladies, Garden Club and classes with Christopher Wren.

A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 pm at the Williamsburg Community Chapel located at 3899 John Tyler Hwy, Williamsburg, VA on Saturday, February 18th. A small reception will follow the service in the foyer of the Williamsburg Community Chapel. A private family burial will be held at Arlington Cemetery at a later date.
