

Kenneth Franklin Johnson sadly passed on January 15, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Waverly, Virginia on February 22, 1940 to the late Elva and Morton Johnson. Kenny attended VMI and graduated in 1962. He then went to Fort Bliss, Texas for training. After returning home, Kenny worked as a civil engineer for the highway department. Kenny teamed up with the Malloney family members to assist in the development of Williamsburg's original Pottery Factory. Kenny loved Lexington, the Valley, the original Williamsburg Pottery Factory (the shop), family and God. He enjoyed photography, horse racing, Nascar, sports and was a Civil War buff. Kenny loved reading and educating himself on things like classic novels and astronomy. He was a friend to all and believed in giving to those in need at organizations such as VMI, Heritage Humane Society, Dream Catchers, CDR, and many others. Kenny loved baseball and VMI, and set up a scholarship for attending students.
He is survived by his wife Caroline C. Johnson; children Steven Wayne Johnson, Gregory Powell Johnson, and Cassandra Johnson; granddaughter Cecillia Coke Johnson; siblings Cathy and Eddie Young of Newport News, VA, Connie Johnson and Ed Saunders of York County, VA, and Keith Johnson of Emporia, VA; step children Julianna Snyder, Rebecca Snyder Hughes, and Jonathan Cottle Snyder of Williamsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kenny is predeceased by his brother Carlton Johnson of Waverly, VA.
His wife Caroline would like to give special thanks to Drs. Harold Young and Barry Fowler, the team at Morgan Stanley, Kauffman and Canoles, friend and attorney Greg Davis and Staff. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Harold Young MCV Neurology NPR Clinic Fund. A catholic mass will be held Tuesday, January 21, at 11a.m. at St. Olaf Catholic Church 104 Norge Ln. Williamsburg, VA 23188 with Father Tom Mattingly officiating.
