ALPHARETTA - Marjory June Diemer Menzel, Age 90 of Williamsburg, VA and formerly Darien, CT, died peacefully on November 18, 2016. She was born March 3, 1926 in New York City to Elmer Clyde and Charlotte Lillian Diemer. Marjory grew up in Westchester County, NY. She attended Columbia University and worked for Marshall Field's as a buyer in New York City. She met her future husband Rene Menzel at the Anchor and Saber Club in New York City. Rene was an executive at the IBM Corporation. Marjory and Rene enjoyed traveling together throughout Europe before settling down and starting a family. Marjory and Rene lived with their children in Tokyo for two years before returning to the States and calling Darien, CT home. Marjory was very active in the Darien Community Association chairing many lectures with world-renowned figures, as well as heading the Darien -Mekara Association. Marjory and Rene often summered in Bermuda and Nantucket, MA. They moved to the Williamsburg area over 15 years ago. She is survived by her husband Rene and two sons, John of Alpharetta, GA and William of Tucson, AZ. Funeral services will be held at Burton Parish in Colonial Williamsburg on November 29 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Meals on Wheels Program of Williamsburg.
