

Mark Oliver Bedont, Jr., of Williamsburg, VA, formerly of Centreville, VA, died peacefully in his sleep at home on Monday, December 13, 2021. He was born in McKeesport, PA on November 20, 1947 and spent his childhood in West Miflin, PA.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1970 – 1972 and was a radio operator in Vietnam.
Mark graduated from Indiana University of PA with a Master’s Degree in Political Science/History. He worked and retired as a Program Analyst for the U.S. Dept. of Labor. In Williamsburg, he was a Visitor Services Associate at Historic Jamestown.
He enjoyed fishing with his son and college friends every year in Cross Fork, PA, “The Gabby”. The group fished for the biggest trout.
Mark was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Ardiana Bedont, father, Mark Oliver Bedont, Sr., and his brother, David.
He is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Sally, of 37 years; son, Alex (Kari); three grandchildren, Mark, Melody and Elijah; brothers, Jeff and Gary; Aunt Ada Genito; cousin, Joe Genito; and nieces and nephews, Melanie (Rob) Vitous, Eric (Lauren) Bedont, Tracey (Mike) Lape and Tyler Douglas.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 17, 2021 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg from 5PM to 7PM. The service will be held Monday, December 20, 2021 at Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church in Allentown, PA at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mark's memory to Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 500 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185 or the Heritage Humane Society, 430 Waller Mill Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
