Mark Anthony Florimonte, 57, passed away on January 21, 2026, in Williamsburg, Virginia. Born in the Bronx, New York, Mark spent much of his childhood in Northport, Long Island. He went on to pursue his passion for food and hospitality graduating from Culinary Institute of America.
Mark began his professional career as a chef, working in several distinguished restaurants throughout New York City. After marrying his wife, Karen, the couple moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and eventually settled in Williamsburg, Virginia, where they made their home for the past 28 years. In Williamsburg, Mark opened Florimonte’s Deli & Fine Foods, a business that quickly became a local favorite. Through his work, Mark built lasting relationships and became a well-known and valued member of the Williamsburg and First Colony community.
Following his time at the deli, Mark continued his culinary career at several notable establishments as Executive Chef and Director of Food and Beverage, including the College of William & Mary, Colonial Williamsburg, Ford’s Colony Country Club, and Kingsmill Resort. He was also a devoted supporter of the March of Dimes, frequently participating in events in honor of his prematurely born daughter.
Mark had many passions outside of his work, including running, boating, and woodworking. As an accomplished runner, he completed multiple half marathons, some of which he proudly ran alongside his daughter Isabel. Above all else, Mark cherished time spent with his family, especially his two grandchildren.
Mark is survived by his wife, Karen Florimonte; his daughters, Andrea Florimonte and Isabel Hagaman; son-in-law Hunter Hagaman; his grandchildren, Eleanor and Amelia Hagaman; his mother, Margaret Florimonte; and many cousins and extended family members.
Outgoing, driven, and deeply compassionate, Mark cared profoundly for his family and friends. He had a rare gift for connecting with others, mentoring and forming meaningful relationships throughout the community that will be remembered long after his passing.
Visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg on Thursday, February 5th from 2:00 - 4:00 PM.
