Dear Judy & Family,  Sadly, I just received word from Jon Lasher (Dir. of Music, Connetquot High School) that Mike passed away over the summer. Mike began teaching at Connetquot High School, N.Y., my senior year of high school (1978-79) Like all music director transitions this was a hard pill to swallow for many of the students who had become close to our former Dir. Red Reynolds. I can say that Mike was a very caring, compassionate musician who led the Connetquot instrumental department into it's next decade with professionalism and Love. I remember fondly Mike motivating us to perform at our best, and encouraging us as we came to the challenging reality (as High School teenagers) that change is hard, but with dedication and consistent practice, and patience, you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. I am also very happy that I got to reach out to him on Face Book and find out that he accomplished his dream of getting his music doctoral degree in composition. I am proud to say that I am currently teaching instrumental music (34) years in Westborough, Massachusetts (grades 5-12) presently elementary band, and that Mike played a role in my attending Berklee College of Music and pursuing my dream of continuing in Music. My prayers and blessings go out to you all.

To the Williamson Family,

We in NY are just learning of Mr. Williamson's passing back in July.   I am so sorry to hear of this.   Mr. Williamson ("Uncle Willy") taught us with amazing patience, kindness, humor and grace.   He made the band room a home, and we all respected and loved him for the  leader he was.   I will always remember him and his love for music, and his talent for sharing his gift with us.

As a trombone player, I especially enjoyed that he was also a trombone player, and he cut us no slack.  :) 

Rest in peace Mr. Williamson, and thank you so much for all you did for all of us back at Connetquot.    You will be so terribly missed on this earth!

Mrs. Williamson and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I don’t think we have ever met, but your husband had a profound impact on my brothers and sisters and me. He taught all six of us, most of us are still in the music or entertainment business and 3 of us went on to be teachers. Your husband for each us was the best part of high school, he will be greatly missed.

My Uncle Mike taught me how to water ski, introduced me to Broadway plays (Doin’ the Lambeth Walk, OY!) and told me I was a star. Such a sweet man. I loved him beyond measure. My condolences Aunt Judy and my dear cousins Roy and Mickey.

Uncle Mike was a kind, gentle man. I was proud to have his jazz music played during dinner at my wedding!  I still have the occasional patient of mine who remembers him teaching music at a local high school here in Binghamton.  What a wonderful person.  I always enjoyed chatting with him at length when he was in town. I remember him holding Matthew when he was an infant for a very long time. Uncle Mike was such a calming force that Matt slept in his arms for hours. Sending love to Aunt Judy, my cousins Mike and Roy, and their families. My prayers are with all of you. 

Judy and fmily- I am so saddened  to hear of Mike's passing. A flood of memories comes  to mind from our young adulthood  connections at Peg  and Walt's to the old folks connecting over college games.
I remember visiting you when Mickey wa small and we went  to the beach among other things. Mike and I got into music talking  and he tried to get me to blow his trombone. My failure to even muster up some toots  was calmly  met by Mike  with his quiet dignity when  he must have been bowled over by my ineptness.  Always,  always  some great conversations to be had in a quiet spot when the clan's  hurly-burlies overwhelmed and the fun of Pete  finding a kindred person to converse with while  Judy and I rattled on in our Sleeper  fashion.  The last time I saw Mike, we were in his music  room and ever the teacher- he had fun sharing his  latest  compositions. To me he  was the consumate musician- very talented but at his best when sharing his love of  music  with others. That is how we'll remember him!

He leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Judy Williamson; his two sons, Mike (Vicki) and Roy (Tricia) Williamson; his sisters, Barbara Nesta, Nancy Withers and Terry Alnor; five grandchildren, Andrew, Steven, Ellie, Katie and Caroline; and many close friends.  He was born in Davenport, IA to Williford and Elizabeth Williamson.
