

Myrtle Vaughn of Williamsburg, 97, died on Sunday April 18th 2021. Myrtle was born in Naruna, Virginia. She moved with her family to Warwick County in the 1930s and graduated from Morrison High School which was later renamed Warwick High School. In 1942, she married the love of her life, Sherrod L. Vaughn Sr. and they lived together in Newport News until Sherrod’s death in 1984.
Myrtle loved flowers and flower arranging. While living in Newport News she was an active member of the Newicton Garden Club and the Newport News Women’s Club. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Newport News for over 50 years. After moving to Williamsburg in the 1990’s, she became a faithful member at the Williamsburg Community Chapel until her health prevented her attendance.
Myrtle is survived by her loving son, Sherrod Lewis Vaughn, Jr.; by nieces and nephews, Donald Neal Patten, Chester Holly, Paul Kelly, Kathy Kelly, Lawrence B. Woodall, Gene Woodall, Peggy Woodall, and Judy Woodall; and by many grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday April 28, 2021 at the Williamsburg Community Chapel, 3899 John Tyler Hwy, Williamsburg, Virginia.
