

Born to Julian and Virginia Stansell on July 20, 1940 in Richmond, VA she attended John Marshall High School in Richmond where she was a member of the National Honor Society and the school newspaper staff. After graduating in 1958 she then received her BSN from the Medical College of VA School of Nursing in 1962.
She began her career as an RN at the Medical College of VA Hospital and as a Nursing Instructor at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, VA. After taking time off to raise a family she re-entered the workforce as a clinic RN at the James City County Health Department (1976-1987). She finished out her career as a staff RN at First Med of Williamsburg (1987-2010).
Nancy spent many hours volunteering at blood drives with the American Red Cross, being a camp RN at Camp Makemie Woods, as a youth advisor at Saint Stephen’s Lutheran Church and as an RN at Olde Towne Medical Center.
Her hobbies included singing in the Sweet Adelines and for church choirs, sailing, fishing, square dancing and yoga.
Survivors include her son Richard and daughter-in-law Cindy; and grandchildren Steven Jr, Brandon, Madison and Clayton.
