Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, October 19, 1946, Nellie was the second daughter of Ferdinand and Barbara Hand. The family moved to Arkansas in 1956 where Nellie and her sister enjoyed growing up on Lake Hamilton water skiing and boating.
Nellie married her high school sweetheart, John Bobbitt Moseley June 25, 1968. The couple started their military life in 1971, moving a total of 22 times. Nellie made a home wherever she landed whether in the United States, Germany, or Saudi Arabia. Known for her radiant smile and open nature, she made a lasting impact on people, becoming their best friend. As a devoted Army wife, she touched countless lives of servicemen and women as well as their spouses and families. Through her courageous cancer journey of over 10 years, she showed those around her what it looks like to live bravely and with positivity. She will always be a bright light to those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Col. John Bobbitt Moseley (US Army Retired) of Williamsburg, Virginia, her children Melissa Moseley (William Martin) of Richmond, Virginia and John Bobbitt Moseley, Jr., her granddaughter Abigail Moseley of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and her sister Jeanene Godwin of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
We take comfort in knowing she is with her Lord and Savior, and we will always remember her with laughter and love. Nellie will be honored and laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery September 9, 2024 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to MDS Foundation (www.mds-foundation.org) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate).
