

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Jean McCain Mulherin to her heavenly home on Good Friday, April 3, 2015. She passed away at home while in the care of her husband of 57 years, Paul K. Mulherin and her extended family. She was the mother of five sons, Paul Jr., Matthew, Daniel, Stephen, and David; the grandmother of twelve; and the great grandmother of two boys. She is also survived by her sister Phyllis Imler and brother Robert McCain. Norma was born in Circleville, Ohio on August 2, 1931. She attended the Saint Elizabeth School of Nursing operated by the Sisters of the poor of Saint Francis in Dayton, Ohio. Upon receiving her certification as a Registered Nurse she was accepted into the U. S. Navy as an officer of the Nurse Corps. She served at the Naval Hospital in St. Albans, New York; the U.S Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; and during the Korean conflict at the U.S. Navy Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday April 9 at 11:00 at St. Bede Roman Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, VA, with interment following the Mass in the St. Bede Columbarium. Final arrangements were entrusted to the care of Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg.
