Remi Skye Emerson gained her angel wings on October 30, 2022, surrounded by her family and friends. Remi’s passing followed a tragic and unexpected event and several weeks of fighting in the Pediatric ICU at VCU in Richmond, Virginia.
Remi was born on May 22, 2021, at 6:08 a.m., to Mr. Kyle and Courtney (Kelley) Emerson, originally from New Hampshire. She was truly mommy and daddy's little miracle, their long awaited Rainbow baby. Remi got to spend 17 beautiful months on this earth, which the family will always treasure. Although her time was short, Remi touched so many lives that her memory will never fade.
Remi was just beginning to blossom into her very own personality. She was the sweetest, funniest, and smartest little girl you could ever meet. Her beautiful smile and big brown eyes were the first things you would notice. She loved her big sister Mia. Her favorite hobbies were hitting her big sister for laughs, chasing her family dogs Gronk and Nala, attending daddy's softball games, and most of all getting cuddles from mommy and daddy.
Remi is greeted in Heaven by her uncle John (JP) Darvell and great-grandparents, Tom and Bev Murray, Charles and Theresa Emerson, Robert and Kathleen Gibson, Loring Kelley and great-aunt Jackie Wike.
Remi is survived by her mommy and daddy, Kyle and Courtney Emerson from Toano; her big sister Mia; her grandparents, (Papa) Paul and (Nana) Sharon Emerson, and (Grandpa) Michael and (Grandma) Eydie Kelley; Great-Grandma, Priscilla Kelley; her uncles, Jeff Darvell, Craig Buchan, and Christopher Buchan; her aunts, Wendy Buchan and Hanna Buchan; and her cousins, Violet Darvell, Mercedes Buchan, Zander Buchan, CJ Buchan, Zaida Buchan, and Brooklynn Buchan. Remi is also survived by some very special friends of the family, Danny and Crystal Jones, Amanda Sapier, Steve and Jackie San Miguel, Jason and Alicia Leonard.
The Emerson family would like to extend a special thank you to all the James City County first responders and the entire VCU staff who tried so hard to save Remi’s life, as well as maintain Remi’s comfort level over the past several weeks. They would also like to thank their family, friends, and community for all the love and support they have shown Remi and her family during this difficult time, they will be forever grateful. Her parents hope to carry out her remembrance with a non-profit organization to bring awareness to infant pool safety, swim lessons for infants, and a babysitter awareness checklist.
To celebrate Remi’s life, the family will greet friends and family at Nelsen Funeral Home, located at 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg, VA, on Friday, November 4th at 12:00 p.m. A celebration of life ceremony will start at 1:00 p.m. The family is requesting everyone who attends wear bright-colored clothing in honor of Remi’s bright personality.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ronald McDonald House (https://rmhc-richmond.org), which supported the Emersons in their time of need, allowing them to be close to Remi during the most stressful of times.
“Although she may be little, she is fierce.”
