Richard Allen Saxon, 77, passed away August 5, 2018 surrounded by family, at his home in Williamsburg, VA. He graduated from South Side High in Newark, NJ and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). He later received his Masters degree in Telecommunications from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ. He worked for Summit Engineers in Summit, NJ, for AIRCO corporation in Murray Hill, NJ, Burroughs Corporation (Unisys) in Warren NJ and Loop Experts in Somerville, NJ. For more than twenty years, he was a Special Projects Manager for AT&T in Bedminster, NJ. He was an active member of the Board of Trustees for the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, NJ. As an active member of St. James Church in Basking Ridge, he devoted much time to their Marriage Encounter Program. He was the administrative force behind the Kindermusik program in Basking Ridge. Richard is survived by his wife, Karen, of 49 years, three sons, Whitney, Garrett and David - all of Williamsburg, his daughter, Elizabeth and son-in-law Sean Summers of Newport News. Richard loved his family and his home. A life-long audiophile, he enjoyed listening to music, and prided himself on having the newest and best equipment available. An avid reader, and natural storyteller, he loved science fiction and fringe science. A memorial service will be held September 29th at 1pm at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Williamsburg Professional Fire Fighters, Paramedics and 911 Dispatchers (WMBG PFF), 7294 Merrimac Trail, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
