Robert "Bob" H. Bender

Robert "Bob" H. Bender, 84, of Williamsburg, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kirsten Bender; his parents, Herman and Nellie Bender; his brothers, Dwayne Bender, Chuck Bender, and Larry Bender; and his sisters, Nellie Lou Grany and Norma Schmidt.

Before attending college, Robert served in the Army. He received his undergraduate from St. Francis University in Pennsylvania, and went on to earn his master's degree from Indiana University in Pennsylvania, his doctorate of Education from the University of Virginia, and his postdoctoral certificate from Harvard.

Robert served as superintendent of schools in both Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. Following his retirement from the school systems, he opened his own consulting service for organizational management. Here in Williamsburg, Robert was active in the Senior Lounge at James City County Recreation Center.

Robert was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed by his loving wife, Carol Bender; his daughter, Lisa (Ronald) Kincaid; his grandchildren, Chelsea Marie Yanc, Anna Yanc, and Bailey Kincaid; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
