
Robert H. Olds died December 29, 2014 in Williamsburg, Virginia. Born September 25, 1919 in Kane, Pennsylvania to Herbert and Clara Olds, he was the brother of Marie Kellogg and Jim Olds who are both deceased. He graduated from Kane High School in 1937 and Penn State in 1941 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He worked for DuPont for two years, was an officer in the US Navy for three years during WWII, an executive with Triangle Finishing of Johnstown for 13 years, and with his brother Jim started Modern Way Laundromats that he owned and operated for 25 years.
Bob married Margaret MacEwen (d 2001) of Kane, Pennsylvania in 1947 and lived in Johnstown, New York until 2008, raising four children: Betsy Turner of Williamsburg, Virginia; John Olds (d 2009) of Scotia, New York; Scott Olds of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Tom Olds of Coatesville, Pennsylvania. Together, they had 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He enjoyed a variety of hobbies including hunting, fishing, skiing, reading, tropical fish, shortwave radio, and photography. A grave site service in Kane, Pennsylvania will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity. We will miss you, Dad!
