It is with sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Bob (77) after a brief illness Wednesday, March 17th. Loving and devoted husband to Mary of Williamsburg, VA; step-dad to Christine (John) Christmas; Pop-Pop to adored grandsons Patrick and Andrew Christmas of Henrico, VA; brother to Linda (Fred) Frissell of Vienna, VA; uncle to Scott (Emily) Shaffer of Leesburg, VA; parent to his kitties Buster and Rambo; and friend to countless others around the country. If you met Bob, you were a friend.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Violet Tucci of Vienna, VA.
Bob was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Vienna, VA where he had a happy childhood. He was a member of the Vienna Woods Little League as a boy and was a Cub and a Boy Scout. Bob was on the dive team at VWSC in his teenage years and attended Bullis Prep School in Potomac, MD during his high school years and went on to Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. He had a long career working for the Central Intelligence Agency for more than 30 years. Upon retirement from the CIA, he worked for SAIC in IT support. Bob had many hobbies and interests, was a member of the Vienna Jaycees and for many years was involved with the Special Olympics. He was an avid photographer and when younger, built a dark room in his parent’s house. He loved to play and watch sports and he and Mary loved to attend William & Mary college football and basketball games. He organized an annual MS Walk in honor of his Mary. Once fully retired, he worked at Busch Gardens during the summer months and enjoyed directing park goers to their destination. He was active in the local train club and had a love for collecting trains and going to shows. Bob was a people lover and he loved to tell jokes and he did up until the end.
Bob was a good and generous man. He opened his home to his friends who were in transition from one place to another. He and Mary enjoyed entertaining.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3 International Drive, Suite 200, Rye Brook, NY 10573 (www.lls.org). Tell a joke, be a friend, that’s what Bobby would have liked.
Services for Bob will be held at a later date.
