Rose Marie Barrett

Rose Marie Barrett, 94, of Williamsburg, VA, and formerly of Boston, MA, passed away on June 8, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband John C. Barrett; son John C. Barrett, Jr.; parents Theodore and Amelia Vozzella (DeAngelis); and brother-in-law, Kenneth Larkin. Rose graduated from Roslindale High School and Boston Business School. During World War II, she worked briefly in the Secretarial Pool of Army Intelligence. She retired from the Allen Ryan CPA firm, where she worked as the Office Manager. While living in Massachusetts, she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Roslindale, MA. Rose enjoyed traveling and ocean cruising. She started a Bridge Club in Williamsburg, VA and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society. She had taught piano and loved playing it, always ready to play a tune on any nearby keyboard. She also always loved socializing and doting on her grandchildren. She will be missed by her sister Elizabeth A. Larkin of Roslindale, MA; her daughter Susan Howard (Barrett) and son-in-law Ernest Howard of Williamsburg, VA; her grandchildren Christopher Kilgore and his wife Jenny of Louiseville, TN, Emily Criner (Howard) and her husband Justin of Chesterfield, VA, Jonathan Howard of Richmond, VA; and three great-grandchildren, Emma Kilgore, Ava Kilgore, and Aria Criner. Her family is very grateful to Spring Arbor Assisted Living of Williamsburg, VA and the Williamsburg Hospice House for their care and support. There will be a Memorial Celebration of Life in Boston, MA later this summer.
