

She was predeceased by her parents and sisters, Marie Fleischmann (husband Francis) and Barbara. Rose was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, John F. Flynn, in 2020. Rose is survived by her sister, Margaret Cushing (Stephen) and brother, Thomas Barbarie (Dona); children, Kathleen Sisk (Paul), Pamela, Anne Wilson, Suzanne, John; grandchildren Matthew Sisk (Mila), Laura Sisk; great-granddaughters Keira and Madeline Sisk and many nieces and nephews.
Raised in Brooklyn, NY, Rose worked in the publishing business in New York City until she married and started her family. She spent most of her adult life in Huntington, NY where she was involved in church, school and community activities. Rose loved being with family and friends; she knew no strangers. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, gardening and traveling. Always a gracious hostess, she welcomed everyone into her home for delicious food and lively conversation. Rose retired to Williamsburg, VA where she continued to be active in her community and church until her move to Fredericksburg in 2019.
Donations may be made to Faith in Action and Meals on Wheels. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, May 15th at 1:00pm at Saint Bede Catholic Church with interment in the Columbarium. Afterward the family will receive guests in the church Commons where a reception will be held to celebrate Rose’s life. Nelsen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
