

He was a Captain in the Army Corps of Engineers, who was a member of the American Legion Post 160 and an active member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Surry.
In his life, he graduated from Temple University, served in the Army during the Vietnam era, achieved a MBA from the University of Connecticut, ran the New York Marathon the year his first grandchild was born, was working in New York City on 9/11, and most recently, he competed in a Master’s Swimming competition at the young age of 70.
His most important accomplishments were the 50 years with his wife Cheryl Morris; his daughters, Alethia Canady (Todd), GA., Teresa Brndjar (Mark), MD., Jennifer Chandler (Jerry), VA.; and his 6 grandchildren, Marena Canady, GA., Rachel Canady, GA., Andrew Brndjar, MD., Christopher Brndjar, MD., Ian Chandler, VA., and Aeowyn Chandler, VA. He is survived by his siblings, Richard Morris, FL., and Stephanie Morris, PA. He is predeceased by his parents, Betty and Royal Morris, Jr., PA.
He is best known for his infectious smile, a greeting that can be heard across a field, his year-round joy of giving and forever humming Christmas tunes.
The memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Surry, VA. on April 13th at 2pm. There will be a small reception to follow in the social hall. He asked that everyone wear something with a hint of Christmas to it and carry that in your heart as we celebrate his life with shared memories.
