

Steve went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 22, 2023 after a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Grace Bryan. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda; his siblings, Red Bryan (Zenda), Sally Brown (Charlie), Ken Bryan (Beth) and Rebecca Johnson (Erik); and his godchildren, Callie Morrison Teasdale, Haley Morrison Knowles, and Nigel Hall. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews (with special mention of Jeffrey O’Connell) and sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.
Steve was born in Austin, TX on November 17, 1948 and grew up in Salinas, CA. He was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from the University of California Davis and Fuller Theological Seminary, earning a Master of Divinity. He took a gap year after his freshman year at Davis to do mission work with high schoolers in Johannesburg, South Africa with African Enterprise. He worked at sister companies, MSA and CMD for 25 years in San Francisco, Pittsburgh, and Atlanta. Steve and Linda retired to Williamsburg 20 years ago and he was active in a home fellowship group, a history group, and a coffee group with his home church, Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. Steve was an avid fly fisherman and had many special fishing trips with family and friends. He and Linda loved traveling, especially to Italy and Switzerland. He could fix anything, loved music, computers, and working outside.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 2pm at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1677 Jamestown Rd., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Steve’s name may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation or a charity of your choice. Nelsen Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
