VeNeta Lee Taylor (Norrick) was born on November 10, 1925 in Defiance County, Ohio. She was the daughter of Cassie Mae Core and William Edward Norrick, and was one of 12 children. Her family lived on 160 acres of farmland, where they raised livestock and grew their own vegetables, including a corn field. She went to a one room schoolhouse for grade school, played on her high school basketball team, and enjoyed playing many sports during her lifetime, including tennis, bowling, and water aerobics.
After high school, VeNeta moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the FBI as a fingerprint classifier. She met her husband, Max Taylor in February of 1946, and they married on November 9, 1946. VeNeta and Max lived in various states, then moved to Virginia, where all three of their children were born. They later moved to Illinois, where they spent almost 40 years, then moved back to Virginia in 2007.
VeNeta is survived by her three children, Paula T. Boschen, Alan M. Taylor and Leigh Anne Hoffman (Doug), as well as her eight grandchildren, Karen Boschen, Andrew Boschen, Nichole Taylor, Michael Taylor, Samantha Taylor, Amy Meyer, Ryan Hoffman, Benjamin Hoffman, and many great grandchildren.
She lived a long and active life. Traveling with her husband and spending time with her children and grandchildren, brought her joy and treasured memories. She was an avid reader, regularly completed crossword puzzles, often took long walks, loved to sing, and enjoyed seeing all the different birds at her bird feeder. In her later years, she still loved to read, and liked watching animal shows, golf, and tennis.
VeNeta passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026 in Williamsburg, Virginia at the age of 100. She was truly loved by her family. Her kindness, her loving smile, and generous heart will all be greatly missed.
