

Walter was a graduate and football player for Washington and Lee University. He earned a B.S. degree with special attainments in commerce and was also on the Dean’s List.
He was a member of Delta TAU Delta Fraternity, ROTC, and The Chamber Choral. Walter is also a member of Bruton Parish Episcopal Church and the American Legion Post 39. After serving in the U.S. Army for 24 years with tours in both France and in the U.S., he also served on assignments at the Pentagon. He also attended the Army War College and retired at the rank of Col.
His civilian career spanned 40 years as an Auditor for Burlington Industries. He managed The European Operation for 5 years in Zurich, Switzerland and returned to the U.S. until his retirement in 1998.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Janice; step-son, William H. M. Tucker, Jr. and his beloved cats, Harry and Idgie.
Friends may visit on Thursday, June 19, from 5-7 pm, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, 23188. Funeral services will be held at Bruton Parish Episcopal Church, 331 Duke of Gloucester St., on Friday, June 20, at 2 pm. Interment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
