William "Bill" Robert Anderson, 82, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2021, in Williamsburg surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Williamsburg, VA on July 31, 1939, to James and Nina Anderson. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Elizabeth Bradsher. After graduating from James Blair High School in 1957, Bill joined the USAF and retired as Senior Master Sergeant after proudly serving over 26 years including active duty in Vietnam. His military career included time in Florida, Newfoundland, New York, England, Missouri, Massachusetts, Turkey, Thailand, Louisiana, Delaware, Oklahoma, and numerous other locations. After retiring from the Air Force, Bill returned to Williamsburg and worked as an SPO for the Department of Defense at Camp Peary for another 16 years. Bill married Julie Smith in 1968 in Albia, Iowa. Bill lovingly cared for his family and always put the needs of others before his own. He was a man of quiet, but deep, faith. His family is very thankful for God's amazing gift in Bill. He took great joy in his hobbies, spending his time reading, fishing, cooking, and woodworking. He was a lifelong racing fan. Bill is survived by Julie Watson, lifelong companion and friend; daughter, Angela Johnson (Michael); daughter, Holly Haga (Scott); and granddaughters Ellissa and Eira Johnson. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Jimmy Bradsher; nephew James Bradsher (Pam); nieces Marie Struble (Ron) and Kathy Brown (Blaine); and great-nieces and great-nephews. A Service of Death and Resurrection will take place at Williamsburg United Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 8 at 11:00 AM. Masks are required for those over the age of 2. A graveside service will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park, 12750 Warwick Boulevard, Newport News, Virginia.
