William Jesse Bodie Jr.

Bill was born August 28, 1935 in Staunton, VA to William and Anne Alvis Bodie. Living most of his life in Williamsburg, he attended Matthew Whaley School, Fork Union Military Academy and Virginia Tech. After retiring from Colonial Williamsburg, he worked as an accountant for a local hotel group. He was also a life-long member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church.

Taking up running later in life, one of his greatest accomplishments was completing the New York Marathon at the age of 50. He also enjoyed gardening, family beach vacations, walking the local neighborhoods, and all “Hokie” sports.

“Bodie” as he was lovingly known, is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois Stout Bodie; daughters, Beverly Berlin (Russell) and Leslie Huffman; grandchildren, Jesse (Jordan), Billy (Kelly), Andrew (Sarah), Kelsey and Tucker; great-grandchildren, Rylee, Harper, and James Bodie, Haley, Delaney, and Baby j; brother, Charles; and sisters, Sylvia and Sallie.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 2pm at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 809 S. Henry St., Williamsburg.
