William Anthony DeBono, Jr.

William A. DeBono, Jr., 87, of Williamsburg, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary; his sisters, Mary and Ada; and a brother, Vincent. William joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War, earning a Bronze Star decoration for his service. He graduated from Manhattan College with a BS in Political Science and later went to work in the family business of lamp shade manufacturing. He retired as the CEO of DeBono, Inc. He enjoyed woodworking and surf casting, and in retirement, enjoyed bird watching from the kitchen window. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Jean Ellen DeBono; son, William Arthur DeBono (Roberta H.); daughters, Gail Scanlan (Robert J.), Lorin Helbling (Timothy), Laurie Summers (William), Lisa Helbling (Richard); grandchildren, Patrick DeBono, Ryan Scanlan, Katie (Scanlan) Geary, Karen Helbling, Mark Helbling, Giovanna Helbling, Cole Helbling, Olivia Helbling and Lilyanna Summers; and great-grandchild, Ronan Geary. A mass will be offered at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 7th, 2017 at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, VA. Interment will follow in the St. Bede Columbarium.
