

William "Bill" Edward Hoover of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away on May 1, 2026, at the age of 93. He was born on August 6, 1932 in Charleston, West Virginia and was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hallie Hoover.
Bill was called to active duty with the U.S. Air Force in October 1950, serving his country in Korea, Vietnam, and several locations in the US and Europe. While serving in England in 1957, he met and married Margaret Joy Smith.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1970 and continued to serve his country as a Department of Defense Civilian advising Active-Duty Airmen in the F-15 aircraft program for 20 Years. Bill garnered many awards and accolades for his service during this time frame.
Bill then retired in 1994 after 41 years of combined federal service. He stayed active in retirement by working for Busch Gardens for 6 years and then continued working at Cheatham Annex, Deer Run Golf Course for another 5 years before retiring permanently.
He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Margaret Joy Hoover; three sons: Stephen of Gloucester, VA, Stuart and his wife Barbara of Kansas City, MO, Bruce and his wife Page of Littleton, NC; and additionally, four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
