

He was born in Williamsburg, Virginia on November 19, 1934 and was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Nixon; and his brothers, Roby Nixon Jr, Edward Nixon, Charlie Nixon, and Jerry Nixon.
He believed in the bible from beginning to end. He loved fixing and repairing things – cars, motors, bikes, and anything with moving parts. He loved figuring out how things worked. Tommy’s greatest joy was his family.
Tommy is survived by his son, William “Sonny” Nixon; daughters, Diana Griffith (Roy) and Carol Spence (Jim); grandchildren, Adam Griffith, Brian Griffith, Lori Alexander, Stephanie Montervino, Andrew Nixon, AJ Nixon, Dr. Laura Miller, and Kimberly Metcalf; great-grandchildren, Keenen Griffith, Eternity Willis, Xavier Griffith, Josh Alexander, Jake Alexander, Ben Alexander, Gavin Phillips, Bradley Metcalf, Oberon Miller, Layla Nixon, Adalynn Mable Nixon, John Paul Montervino; great-great-grandchildren, Levi and Landon Willis; and siblings, Hazel Richardson and Nita Yentes.
Visitation will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, Williamsburg, Virginia April 8, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A graveside service will take place at Richardson Family Cemetery, 5289 Riverview Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23188, US, on April 9, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
