Buddy Puller died on August 13th at his home in York County following a prolonged illness. He was the third child of Andrew Floyd and Janie Southworth Puller and was born on a Caroline Co., Va. farm where he grew up. He graduated from Caroline High School. Spending most of his adulthood in Williamsburg, he came here to manage the Southern States Cooperative. He later became associated as an insurance agent with the Prudential, Commonwealth Insurance Agency Group and M&W Insurance. He was a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon and elder. He served on the Board of Directors of the Queens Lake Club Association. Following retirement from M&W Insurance, he enjoyed travels to several national parks, Alaska, the islands and western Europe. He loved spending time “on the benches” with his Pulaski Club friends, walking his beloved dog, “Jefferson,” and visits with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Rowe Puller and their two children, Andrew, “Drew,” and Rosalind Malhotra, “Roz,” as well as grandchildren, Owen, Gavin and Jake Puller, Kieran and Sarika Malhotra, a sister, Mildred Hudgins of Mathews and brothers-in-law Maynard Montgomery Harris and Ellis Hudgins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rachel “Jack” Harris of Richmond. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 12th at 2:00 at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, followed by a reception with light refreshments in the church fellowship hall.
