Benjamin Leo Butler

Ben served in the Navy as a Medic during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard. In 1973 he married Shirley Anne Bart and became the step-father to her five children. Ben retired from General Motors in 1985 after 33 years of service. He enjoyed studying history and ran a gunsmith business in retirement.

Ben is survived by his step-children, Michael (Gayle) Bart, Chris (Jeff) Jolliff, Kathy (Jeff) Schuster, and Lorraine (Mike) Bennett as well as nine step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his nieces Maxine (Al) Wilson and Joanne (Greg) Butler-Papp. He was preceded in death by his step-daughter; Sharon [Rick (also deceased)] Rupp.

Visitation will be on Thursday September 3, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E Middle St, Williamston, MI 48895, (517) 655-2158. Due to COVID-19, wearing of masks, social distancing and 10 person limit in funeral home is required.
