Carl William Sodman

Lap One: Carl was born on March 14,1948, to William Carl and Joyce Sodman. He was soon joined by his brother, Charles, and his sister, Carol. He grew up in Perry near all of his family.

Lap Two: High school was a blast while he was part of "The Group" made up of some of his closest lifelong friends: Bob, Steve, Dave L., Fred, Bump, Bruce, Dan, and Dave S. They developed a reputation for their many mischievous adventures.

Lap Three: Carl enlisted with the National Guard where he attained the rank of sharp shooter and served as MP.

Lap Four: Here Carl takes a pit stop. He marries Sue and has two beautiful daughters, Patty and Lisa. The young mechanics bring much joy and love to his life.

Lap Five: Carl began working for MSU - GO STATE!! He worked in telecommunications for the athletic department. Some of his favorite memories were of those times working with the football and basketball teams. As if this isn't enough, he also loved bowling, coaching softball, driving go-karts and stock cars, and spending time with so many wonderful friends.

Lap Six: Next, came the grandkids! The joys of his life: Samantha, Vanessa, Katrina, and Jake all joined the pit crew.

Lap Seven: Carl meets Cathie! He gains two more kids Teresa and Steve, and one grandchild, Alara. Now Team Carl is complete.

Lap Eight: Carl approaches many bumps in the road, but he never lost his kind spirit or love for his friends and family. This is exemplified in some of his last words being, "I love everybody!"

Finish Line: His lifetime of love came to an end when Carl received his checkered flag on May 14, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

Carl was preceded in death by his father, William Carl Sodman, his mother, Joyce Sodman, his brother, Charles (Chuck) Sodman, his brother-in-law, Richard Martin, and his step-mother, Elaine Sodman. Surviving are his wife; Catherine "Cathie" Sodman, daughters; Lisa (Steve) Elzinga and Patricia "Patty" (Jeff) Wyndham, sister Carol Sodman (Jim) Morris, sister-in-law Sharon Sodman, step-children; Teresa (Scott) Renfer, Steve Peterson, grandchildren; Samantha Parkey, Vanessa Parkey, Katrina Elzinga, Alara Crippen, Jake Elzinga, nieces and nephews; Tammy (Dave) Gontarek, Chuck (Andrea) Sodman,
