Charles Edward Sodman

Perry, MI

Born June 6, 1949 in Lansing, MI; died September 30, 2010 in Lansing. Charles was born to Joyce Jean (Snay) Sodman of Lansing, William Carl Sodman of St. Johns. He is survived by his loving and devoted family starting with his wife Sharon Kay Sodman of 41 years. Also surviving is stepmother Elaine Sodman; children Charles E. & Andrea Sodman, Shari LeAnn Sodman; grandchildren Blake A. Sodman, Jordan N. Sodman, Emiley M. Sodman; God-Grand-daughter Sydnee E. Teague; brothers and sisters Carl William & Kathy Sodman, Carol Jean (Sodman) and Jim Morris. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Edward Sodman, Jr., father, William Carl Sodman, and mother, Joyce Jean Sodman.

Charles worked in the Department of Corrections for the State of Michigan as a Probation/Parole/CRP Agent from 1977 to present. In addition, he taught part-time at Detroit University and Lansing Community College in the Criminal Justice departments. He holds three degrees, an Associate of Social Sciences from Lansing Community College, a Bachelors of Psychology and a Masters in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. Charles served in the United States Army as a Medical Corpsman from November 12, 1969 to August 24, 1971 and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Charles loved spending time with his grandchildren and preparing the family pool for summer activities. He completed his dream restoring a MG Midget convertible car and becoming a published author of two books: The Satan Ring and Among Close Friends and Family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 4, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 205 E. Middle St, Williamston with the Rev. Les Kephart officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Perry, MI with military honors. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Chapel.
