

Williamston
Wayne Fate (83), a lifelong resident of Williamston, MI, born to Oakley and Crystal Fate, passed peacefully on May 1, 2012 after a brief illness with cancer, with his family at his side.
He graduated from Williamston High School and went on to graduate from Ferris State University with a degree in Pharmacy. He owned and operated Fate’s Pharmacy in downtown Williamston for 38 years. He married the love of his life, and is survived by, Delores (Runciman) Fate. They remained happily married for nearly 63 years. They have two children, Chari Everett and William (Tammy) Fate, of Williamston, MI. He is also survived by his dearly loved grandchildren, Keaton and Lacey Fate. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Philip and Paul Fate.
He was a director for People’s State Bank, Summit Cemetery, and the Williamston Depot. He also was a member of the West Locke Wesleyan Church, Ingham County Druggist Association, and Kiwanis Club. More recently, he was a member of the Michigan State University Rebounders and Downtown Coaches Clubs. He enjoyed many hobbies including golf, genealogy, bowling, and was an avid fan of MSU football and basketball. His passion was playing billiards and being one of the top pool players in Michigan for 50 years, including winning the Billiard Congress of America’s Senior Men’s Championship in Las Vegas in 2001.
Wayne would have liked to give a shout out to all of his golf buddy’s at Oak Lane, his pool team at Pockets, his dinner friends at Brookshire and Coral Gables, and his breakfast buddies at Sunny Side Cafe. A special thank you goes out to Dr. John Siano, Dr. James Herman, Dr. Carol Rapson, along with their wonderful staffs. Also to Phil Everett for being a faithful friend over the years.
Funeral services will be conducted at West Locke Wesleyan Church, where they attended, on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Michael A. Black, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Summit Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Gorsline-Runciman Williamston Chapel on Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either West Locke Wesleyan Church, 2652 Haslett Rd., Williamston, MI 48895, Williamston Food Bank, c/o Jane Pease, 3795 Zimmer Rd., Williamston, MI 48895 or the Williamston Golf Boosters, Bob Burns, c/o Williamston High School, 3939 Vanneter Rd., Williamston, MI 48895 where his two grandchildren are on the Williamston Boy’s and Girl’s Golf teams.
