The Lord, in his infinite mercy, took Dorothy June Pierce, 93, to her heavenly home on November 19, 2012. Born Dorothy Jensen on June 14, 1919, she was preceded in death by husband, Kermit, in 1989, infant daughter Marilyn, granddaughter Naomi Monod, her parents, Frank and Bessie Jensen and siblings, Clifford (Elizabeth), Alice, and Frank Bernard (Evelyn). She is survived by her children: Judy Douglas (Keith), Sharon Monod, Ralph (Kathleen) and Kathleen Pierce Burnett; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and special friend Charles Dietz. The first half of Dorothy’s life revolved around farm life. She grew up on farms in Fowlerville and Williamston, and later farmed with her husband, Kermit, while they raised their children. She was ever the caring mother who loved to cook and to hear that her children were “all right.” Her Christian faith was always a mainstay, and contributed to her positive outlook on life. After retiring, she and Kermit built their dream house on Donna Drive. They were able to travel extensively and to enjoy their family and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 24 at 11 a.m. at Memorial Lutheran Church, 1022 W. Grand River Ave., Williamston, with Pastor David Voss officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, November 23 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Middle St., Williamston and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Memorial Lutheran Church, Williamston, where Dorothy was a life-long member, or to the Williamston Senior Center where she had so many good friends. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Williamston, MI.
