

Duane V. Hunt passed away at home unexpectedly, January 22, 2016. He was born on April 23, 1933, the son of Erma and Laverne Hunt. He graduated from Perry High School and then joined the U.S. Navy, becoming a medical corpsman during the Vietnam War. He drove motor coaches for Greyhound and Indian Trails before going to work for and retiring from the State of Michigan-Corrections Department. Following his retirement he missed driving so much that he went to work for Dean Trailways and Dean Transportation until his second retirement. Duane had many things he was passionate about. He was a man of great faith and was always eager to share his beliefs. He was a dedicated MSU sports fan and a diehard Detroit Tiger fan. He was firm in his political views and unwavering in his support of the Red Cross Blood Donor Program. He proudly attained the 50 plus gallon donor status through his lifetime. He was an avid crossword puzzle solver and enthusiastic reader. He enjoyed writing and computer games. He especially loved being a Grandpa. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Barbara Steiner-Hunt. He is survived by his wife Sandra McKinney-Hunt and his beloved daughter Deborah (Fred) Delcamp; grandchildren, Christopher (Teri) Delcamp and their son Elijah and Rachael (Jerry) Siddock and their daughter Josie, his brother Dan (Sandy) Hunt of Surprise, AZ and sisters, Marilyn Blackmer of Fairfield Glade, TN and Ardith (Joe) De la pena of Mission Viejo, CA, Barbara’s daughter Jodi and Karen Steiner and Sandie’s children, Shaun (Cindy) McKinney and children Sheamus and Aidan of Canby, OR-Maurie McKinney and his son Jacob of Mason, MI, Michelle (Ron) Weemaes and their daughters Jillian and Gabrielle of Big Rapids, MI and Ryan McKinney and his children Megan and Peter of Lansing, MI. He believed that one of his greatest joys after marrying Sandie was the addition of seven new blessings that called him Grandpa Duane. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 12:00pm (noon) at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Williamston Chapel, 205 E. Middle St. with visitation 2 hours prior to service.
